Fukushima prefecture, together with Nihon University and the architectural designer Jyukankyo Sekkeishitsu (both in Koriyama city), started a practical test on underground thermal heat pump for house usage.
Today it is popular to make a deep‐drilled well of about 100 meters for house thermal pump.
However, the project uses ten of ten-meter deep piles which are filled with non-freezing solution. (The floor space is 80 square meters.)
The project team sees that relatively shallow level of thermal heat is enough for house usage and that it can cut the initial cost into 2 million JPY including heat pump.
