String of Protests Against Megasolar Projects in Nagano Prefecture


Citizens in Ueda city as well as Ina city, both in Nagano prefecture, are protesting against megasolar projects.

The group in Ueda opposes deforestation of a land of 20 hectares, where a 15 MW solar project is planned.

In Ina city, citizens are against the project because it might destroy the scenery of the rural settings.

Suzuki to Embark on Solar Business starting from a 18 MW Station in Shizuoka


The car manufacturer Suzuki is going to embark on solar business, starting from construction of a 18 MW station in Makinohara city of Shizuoka prefecture.

The company will conclude a contract with Chubu Electric Power about its electricity sales and will start the construction of the station in the spring of 2014.
