PV JAPAN 2013 (6): Light-Weight Solar Module Utilizing Acrylic Resin



National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), together with Mitsubishi Rayon, is developing this light-weight module utilizing acrylic resin instead of glass for the front cover.
It makes the module much lighter from 14.6 to 7.2 kg.

A model of the floating-type offshore wind turbine in Fukushima prefecture.

A model of the substation which will control the offshore wind turbines.
The substation was recently completed by Japan Marine United.

Wave power turbine using gyroscopic system.
A joint of Gyrodynamics Ltd and Hitachi Zosen is studying on the turbine.

These studies are also financed by NEDO.

PV JAPAN 2013 (2): 5kW-class Solid Oxide Fuel Cell by Miura



The electricity generation efficiency of this small-sized fuel cell is 48%, which is at the maximum level domestically.

The heat to be generated in the process is utilized for hot water supply, so that the total efficiency becomes 90%.

The feasibility studies of the system are backed by NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization).

The exhibition on photovoltaic technologies and products "PV JAPAN 2013" was held at Tokyo Big Sight last weekend from 24th to 26th July.
