Chemical Firms to Reinforce In-house Hydro Stations
Two chemical firms, JNC and Denki Kagaku Kogyo, are going to increase electricity generation of their in-house hydro power stations.
JNC in Minamata city of Kumamoto prefecture will reinforce its existing station by 20% up to 110 MW.
The company plans to renew the facilities in several years. Also, it is contemplating to construct a new station after an interval of 50 years.
As well, Denki Kagaku Kogyo in Tokyo plans to increase its in-house hydro by 10 percent by the year 2015. The company is going to newly install another station by 2017.
The chemical industry has traditionally utilized hydro power for product manufacturing.
The price hike of electricity after 2011 and the recent introduction of Japanese Feed-in-Tariffs have made companies go back to their own power resources.
