The pig farmer Kimura Farm in Tsugaru city, Aomori prefecture, has recently completed a solar facility on the roofs of its two pig houses. The output capacity is 332 kW.
There have been reported several examples of solar on cow sheds in Tochigi and Hokkaido. But Kimura Farm said it might be the first on pig house in Japan.
The company raises 1,300 pigs utilizing food residue. Together with the new solar panels, it intends its products to be recognized as natural and environmentaｌly friendly.
