Cadmium-polluted Land to Turn to 6 MW Solar Station in Toyama
A 6 MW solar station, which is of the largest scale in Hokuriku area, will be built in Toyama city of Toyama prefecture.
The land was polluted by wastes from Kamioka mine around from 1910 to 1970 and caused so-called "Itai Itai Byou" ("It hurts, it hurts" disease).
Later, the land was recovered with the soil being removed.
In 2012, Toyama prefecture invited business applications to utilize its land of 20.4 hectares.
A joint of Sparks Green Energy, Toshiba, and Kunagayagumi succeeded in the competition and the companies made the SPC "SGET Toyama Megasolar."
The investment will be 2.8 billion JPY.
